This game uses the 20Q artificial intelligence to ask questions to find a specific being, location or technology from the Star Wars universe. Once we have identified your thing, we will display the relavant article from Wookieepedia, the Star Wars encyclopedia that anyone can edit.

Generally, you should be able to answer the questions with either “Yes” or “No”, however, some questions are not that easy, use the answer that you feel fits best. If a question does not apply, answer with “Irrelevant”. If you do not know an answer, use “Skip”. If you make a mistake, you can use the “Undo” button.

“Restart” - This will reset your current session without teaching the artificial intelligence. To ensure that the A.I. learns, play until you get the “Try again” link.

“Things” - If you click on a blue link, the article from Wookieepedia will be displayed in the right-hand part of the window. This only displays the article, you still need to complete the game to teach the A.I. You can use this facility to view an article to help you answer the questions.

Phases of a session

“Gathering Information”

The session will start by asking questions. You should be able to answer the questions with “Yes” or “No”. There are several answers to choose from, choose the answer that you feel fits the best. The A.I. may ask up to 30 questions to help it learn.

“Are you looking for …”

The A.I. has gathered enough information to make a guess. When the A.I. guesses the correct article and you choose “Yes”, it completes the learning process. Do not answer “Yes” unless this is the exact article you are looking for; the A.I. may find a similar article, however, during this training phase, it is important to be specific.

“Unable to guess your article”

The A.I. has asked 30 questions and was unable to find your article. If the article you are seeking is in the list, click on the article. Below the list of articles is an entry field to enter the article code.
Note: You must select the article by clicking on the article code to complete the learning process.

“Session Complete”

The artificial intelligence has considered, memorized and analyzed the answers your game. This is where you will find the “Try again” link, click it to start a new session. You may be asked to suggest a new question; this is optional. Thinking of the games you have played, is there a question that you wanted the A.I. to ask.

The A.I. may also provide feedback from the session. You may not agree with these answers, however, the only way to fix them is to play that article again.
“Spontaneous Knowledge” - This is the A.I. guessing at answers.
“Skipped Questions” - You have “skipped” some questions and the A.I. knows the answer.
“Differences Detected” - The A.I. has been taught different answers to these questions.
